Karim Rashid, the Prince of Design

Born in Cairo on September 18, 1960, Karim Rashid graduated from the Department of Industrial Design at Carleton University in Ottawa. He has had his own design studio in New York since 1993.

Kenzo, Hugo Boss, Sony Ericsson, Citibank, Pepsi, LG Hausys, Prada, Yahoo, Armani  … Çalıştığı markalardan sadece bir kaçı.

Karim Rashid, who describes himself as an "optimist, perfectionist and provocateur", thinks that design should appeal to emotions and the human spirit. When asked about his favorite among his designs, he says that he puts the "Garbo" trash can, which he designed 24 years ago, when he first founded his company, for "Umbra" and which is still in great demand today, in a separate place. Rashid, whose emphasis we place on product design, also makes interesting spatial analyzes in interior architecture. He finds it more exciting to see his own designs when he enters someone's home, rather than having his work exhibited in an important museum.

He prefers plastic in his designs. For this reason, it is subject to a lot of criticism. But Rashid thinks plastic is a sustainable and less environmentally damaging material. He states that some plastics are carcinogenic and irresponsible, but in recent years, care has been taken to produce responsible plastic. It also supplies its materials from these manufacturers. He is extremely against the use of wood as a sustainable material, and emphasizes that cutting down trees further damages nature.

Karim Rashid, a colorful personality, is full of life. It is possible to feel your style in every aspect of your life, from your clothing style to your lifestyle. His designs are unique, and no matter which of his works you look at, it is clear that it is Karim Rashid's design. As Demirce Norms architecture, our principle is in this direction. For this reason, we follow Karim Rashid closely. I hope he continues to conquer our "inner world" with his projects...
