Demirce Norms at Architecture is the name given to the architectural journey that Alpay Demirci and Burçin Demirci set out for, after they met in 1999. Demirce sees its design projects (architecture, interior design, landscaping etc.) as wholes composed of steps towards the final result, and shapes them under a single concept. According to the office’s standards, design needs to be functional, aesthetic and innovative; it has to integrate with the lives of the users and add value to the environment.
As an office based in Izmir, Demirce Norms at Architecture, has taken up the responsibility to consume the world’s resources as little as possible to produce spaces, or even to transform them consuming none at all. The office sees architecture as an organism that needs to be operated with reference theoretically to its dimensions of thinking and practically to producibility. Conscious of the fact that these two separately conceived headings are actually a whole, the office sees architecture as the effort to produce value.
Demirce Norms at Architecture is a vision that wants to ask the right questions at the right time. The answers, for Demirce, illuminate the correct spaces.
